Vegetarians may be used to having only a couple of meal options available to them when going out to dinner – but they wouldn’t usually expect to only have one choice of meat-free fare when shopping at the supermarket.
But that’s what happened when journalist Joe Farrar visited his local Aldi and found that the vegetarian section was only stocked with piles and piles of garlic bread.
He tweeted a hilarious picture of two fridges at an unknown branch containing dozen and dozens of the flavoured baguettes, which has left Twitter users in stitches after his post went viral.
Journalist Joe visited his local Aldi store and found the vegetarian section only contained garlic bread
Joe said there was a third fridge with even more garlic bread inside it to the right of the photo, out of shot
Instead of being angry that his branch of Aldi only offered garlic bread in the vegetarian section, Joe was thrilled.
He tweeted: ‘The “vegetarian” section at my local Aldi is literally just garlic bread and as a vegetarian I’m very happy and here for it.’
His post has now racked up 15,000 likes and nearly 3,000 retweets, with many finding it hilarious that the supermarket staff had packed so many garlic bread baguettes into the fridges in Joe’s photo.
Molly Kate also spied a plethora of garlic bread in these fridges at Aldi, much to her amusement. They contained both baguettes and pizza-style garlic bread
One Twitter user called the fridges full of garlic bread ‘basically porn’ while another joked that it could convert their friend to vegetarianism
He wasn’t the only one to spot this bizarre occurrence either.
Molly Kate visited an Aldi store – which may well have been the same shop – where three fridges contained nothing but garlic bread.
Twitter users found the phenomenon hilarious.
One joked that the plethora of garlic bread was enough to convert their friend to vegetarianism, while one user said that ‘veggie life ain’t so bad’ if you have nothing but garlic bread to eat.
Another likened the scene to ‘porn,’ while another said a fridge full of garlic bread was ‘heaven’.
