Here’s Why You Need To Stop Using Examples Of Vegetarian And Vegan Celebrities

Social media has completely changed the world of fitness. Filters and followers define how fit you are, not your ability to perform. Online fitness models spew lies that are then followed by the general public. Many youngsters who can’t afford personal

trainers or fitness professionals look towards these celebs for fitness and nutrition advice. Sometimes wrong messages that are purely based on myth are spread. One such story that is trending on social media is on how most actors and celebs are turning vegetarian for the sake of leading a better and fitter lifestyle. Although there’s nothing wrong with vegetarian food, it sends a wrong message to the general public that in order to be fit and healthy; one needs to be a vegetarian. This is completely incorrect. Most of these myths stem from obsolete information that red meat causes cholesterol and other heart-related diseases. Too much protein causes uric acid and other complications and so the best way is to go vegetarian or even worse, VEGAN. Here’s a list of things don’t know about these celebrities and why they do what they do.

1) Getting Fooled Or Misled By Their Own Fitness Consultants

Sadly, here in India, some of the biggest and most successful fitness professionals happen to also be some of the biggest fools. Fitness professionals from abroad apparently know everything because they are from a first world country. Also, next in line to this misconception is that just because the trainer charges astronomical amounts, he must be good. It is important to know the educational background of your consultant and also do your own research when in doubt. A long time ago, a famous celebrity was fooled into believing that after he achieved his 6 pack, if he tried harder, then the 8th and 9th one would appear as well.

2) Just Because A Celebrity Claims He’s Vegetarian That Doesn’t Mean He Is A Complete Vegetarian

In India, if you were to ask someone if he was a non-vegetarian he would say yes. How many times he eats non-vegetarian food in a week is another question altogether. Some families barely eat meat once a week and call themselves non-vegetarians. A very funny species of vegetarian we have in India are the ones who are okay with eating non-vegetarian gravy, but not the meat. What I am trying to say is, just because a celebrity turns vegetarian doesn’t mean he could be a complete vegetarian. Some of them still consume eggs or whey protein but just avoid meat. Assuming that they developed such great musculature without the help of first class protein or anabolic steroids is very misleading. Again, a very famous Bollywood hunk who is a big supporter of PETA, does not eat meat but occasionally eats fish, drinks milk and consumes protein supplements.

3) Not All Celebrities Turn Vegetarian Due To Health Reasons

People are very soft-hearted when it comes to the ill treatment of animals. There are a lot of organizations that fight for animal rights. People hate to see animals slaughtered and served as food, so they think that it isn’t as bad to resort to eating plants and grains. Live and let live, right? That’s what some people believe in and who are we to stop them? Religion plays an important role in people’s beliefs as well. A very famous Indian bodybuilding promoter turned vegetarian due to an advice of a pundit because of a bad incident that happened in his life. People have various reasons for turning vegetarian. One should not blindly follow these people without asking a few questions first.

4) A Lot Of These Social Media Stars Were Non-Vegetarian For A Long Time Before They Turned Vegetarian Or Vegan. And Yes, Steroids Are Involved….

One of the most ridiculous debates I hear is about why eating first class protein to build muscle is not an important thing. People are easily fooled into believing that there are many bodybuilders with great physiques who are vegans. No one questions them on how many years they spent their lives eating meat that actually helped contribute to that foundation and muscular build. No one wants to talk about a number of anabolic steroids that go into these vegan bodybuilders. These vegan bodybuilders choose to hide the truth and disseminate only half-assed information. This again is very misleading and very irresponsible on their side.

5) Do You Know What Happens Behind Closed Doors?

One of the best ways to gain followers on social media is to stick to the trend. The more followers you have, the more opportunities to make money and gain fame. Going vegetarian or vegan is the current trend. This explains the sudden rain of vegan IG models. They are everywhere! Endorsing vegan products to make money is a not a bad idea for them. Misleading or not, they don’t really care. No one really knows what happens behind closed doors. No one knows who’s a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian. All we have is fake social media stars and we need to be very careful about before following people blindly.
