One of Cornwall’s most famous pasty makers has unveiled its latest product and is hoping it will prove to be a Quornish favourite.

In a post on its Facebook page Philp’s Famous Pasties announced the addition to its range of the Philp’s Quorn Pasty, made with Quorn mince, Bisto onion gravy and potatoes, onions and swede.

The new product is now on sale and can be ordered for £3.20.

Greg Philp, from the bakery, said: “For a while now we have been looking at different ways of developing an alternative vegetarian pasty to compliment our already popular vegetable and cheese and vegetable varieties…and we think we’ve finally done it.

“The idea came about as myself, my sister and my cousin (third generation Philp family) have been vegetarian for many years and although we have always enjoyed the vegetarian options we felt there was a gap in the market for something a little more adventurous.

“After trying several different options using the Quorn mince – a tried and trusted brand with vegetarian and meat eaters alike – we feel we’ve come up with the perfect combination using onion gravy to give a tasty and distinct flavour and we think we’re on to a winner.”

The pasties are available from the East Quay shop in Hayle and are made to order so require at least an hour’s notice.
